Italian Factory Outlet Stores
|
One of the reason that made factory italian stores business in Italy so flourishing was to allow employees to buy the goods they produced at a discounted price. In order to shop there you had to know the company's boss or be a close friend of an employee (although not every employee has access to these bargains). Pratesi is probably one of the best-known outlet due to a note in an edition of Suzy Gershman's "Born to Shop - Italy" book. Due also to the success this book had, Italian government approved several laws in order to make it legal also for "not employee" shopping in these stores.
Nowadays there are several outlet shops and discount malls. The first one was opened in Serravalle Scrivia, close to the highway between Milan and Genoa and was owned by Baa Macarthur Glen. In september 2003, another outlet was opened, this time in Rome and only in recent years, Fashion District in Rome came along.
Since the beginning of our website, we carefully collected a list of outlet malls and individual factory outlet stores. The guide comprehends over 100 individual outlet stores among Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, Tod's, Richard Ginori, and Bulgari.
Since it takes a lot of time to keep it current we request a contribution of $ 5.00 to consult it.
