"When Manuela Fabbri proposed that I sponsor her program of a photographic research on the subject of hands I thought of a gallery of personalities.
And the first hands that came into my imagination were those of my father, agile and sure on the steering wheel of an old automobile.
And then the hands of other people in my affections, of the people I love, of my friends, and of those I esteem and admire from afar.
I thank them all for their cooperation and for having agreed to the project, even if the idea, in the beginning, might have seemed a bit of a hazard.
Speaking of my father, he taught me another thing: that a business cannot prosper if a good organization is not also fortified by a dream.
I dedicate this book to him."
